JISR - Management and Social Sciences & Economics Journal Contents

Volume 10, Number 2, July 2012

Editorial

With this publication, JISR is completing a decade long journey of scholarship in contribution towards theoretical, empirical, and evaluative research in the fields of business, economics, and social sciences. The journal, through the writings published in each of its issue, has contributed and impacted upon the research community and society in three clear and distinct ways: First, it provided a platform to researchers in diverse fields, both from academic and industry, to share and disseminate their thoughts, ideas, and knowledge which promoted the culture of sharing among diametrically opposite research communities. Second, it has encouraged the local research based on the issues related to our own industry, culture, and society; and provided the solutions of real-life problems which were never touched before, thus filled up a vacuum of research-based decision making within the organizations and among the stakeholders. Third, it has created an enabling environment to nurture nascent researchers and provided a podium for growth and development of upcoming talent with original and innovative thoughts. As HEC has brought many reforms and policy changes in higher education since its inception, one of the most important agenda of the new policy is to promote, nurture, and strengthen the research culture in universities within and across disciplines in Pakistan. This journal has also promoted these objectives and goals set for the seats of higher learning. The conscientious efforts are evident from the quality interdisciplinary research articles on management and social sciences, and a broad spectrum of intra-disciplinary thematic issues, which are duly acknowledged by international indexing and abstracting services like EBSCOhost and Ulrich Serial Solutions. Articles published in this journal acknowledge the endeavors of scholars across Pakistan and abroad representing both academia and practitioners. In the upcoming issues of the journal, JISR-MSSE plans to introduce a few new sections viz. Book Review, Forum, and Case Studies and inviting readers to contribute to these sections. Also, the details of these sections are available on the website of the journal; however, a brief account on sections is given here for the interest and quick reference of the readers. Book Review section will provide the critique and review of latest books published in the fields pertaining to the journal and will offer the readers new insights and latest developments. Forum is the section reserved for critical discussion presented by experts on recent developments, issues and themes; whereas the section of Case Studies will comprise critical discussion on the cases typically based on business sector, organizations, events, and other phenomena. All these sections collectively will enhance the scope, readership of the journal, and reflect the efforts to expand the outreach and participation of scholars. The current issue of the journal is in your hands now; we will appreciate if you provide us your honest feedback on the quality of articles, and candid suggestions to improve designing and layout of the journal. You are welcome to participate in this journal as an author in any of the above-mentioned sections.
